The Juniper EX2200 series switches are a perfect solution for branch and remote offices for network connectivity. Juniper Networks, being one of the leading network equipment manufacturers, has developed 4 versions of switches in this series.

Product Description

Juniper EX2200 switches cover layer 2 and basic Layer 3 switching functionality. There are four versions of switches in this Juniper EX series. The model numbers below represent a shorthand method of recognizing features that exists in this series. The “P” in the model number means that these switches use power over ethernet. The “T” means no power over ethernet and only ethernet.

EX2200-24P-4G has 24 power over ethernet ports (10/100/1000BaseT) with 4 SFP uplink ports.
EX2200-24T-4G has 24 ethernet ports (10/100/1000BaseT) with 4 SFP uplink ports.
EX2200-48P-4G has 48 power over ethernet ports (10/100/1000BaseT) with 4 SFP uplink ports.
EX2200-48T-4G has 48 ethernet ports (10/100/1000BaseT) with 4 SFP uplink ports.

To start, product support is the key even before vps services looking at the technical benefits. Juniper offers J-Care which is similar to Cisco’s Smartnet support. However, Juniper seems to be more reliable and about 70% cheaper in price. OK, The EX2200 line supports L2 and L3 protocols like RIP and static routing with a base license. All Juniper EX switches use the operating system Junos OS, which is available to use cross platforms. Cisco IOS usually has way more variations of its OS that only works for specific devices. Now, Cisco having fifty plus versions of a switch plus all those different versions of their IOS can be quite confusing.

If you are all about being environmentally friendly, these switches operate with very little power consumption and use low acoustic fans. Next, the SFP GbE uplinks in all four models provides high-speed connectivity from the switches to upstream network devices. The SFP stands for small form-factor pluggable transceiver.

You know that the EX2200 switches work in branch and remote offices. This also includes wiring closets and workgroups. These network switches are intended for small work environments but are able to be stacked.

What Cisco Switch is Comparable to the Juniper EX2200 Series

If you are using Cisco Catalyst 2950G series switches, you can replace them with Juniper’s EX2200 switches. Juniper even offers a “get rid of you other switches” program that will provide you a discount.
